PostSubject: The Dark Harvest RULES AND SIGNUPS (FanT, MT)   Wed Jan 11, 2012 3:32 pm

The Dark Harvest is an RP about several strangers from various nations waking up in an unknown land. This unholy and supernatural place is trapped in an eternal cycle between twilight and night. The strangers must not only fight for survival in the hellish countryside full of monsters and demons, but they must also uncover the unnerving secrets behind this place...

The setting at the beginning will be a desolate, abandoned farmland during twilight. I will describe it in more detail when the actual RP begins.

NOTE: This RP will strongly play on your character's pyschology. Do not expect him/her to leave this place fully sane...

Ok each participating nation will contribute one character of their choice. Please only submit one character application.
The Application Form is as follows:

NAME: (What is your unfortunate character's name?)
APPEARANCE: (Age? Race? Hair? Eyes? Body type? Include as much as you'd like)
PROFESSION(S) HELD: (simply place here what occupation or occupations they held before awakening)
RELIGION: (What religion did/does your character believe in?)
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: (What does you character specialize in? Melee? Guns? Other ranged weapons? Keep in mind, guns and ammunition will be extremely rare and limited.)
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: (What makes your character special? Is he abnormally fast because he may have ran track in high school?)
GEAR: (What is on your character when he/she awakens? If you choose a gun, it must be a pistol with a maximum of two clips [14 rounds])
PSYCH PROFILE: (How psychologically stable is your character? Is he/she loyal? Trusting? Simply include traits that make him/her stand out)
BACKGROUND: (please be as detailed as possible. Include things such as childhood, family history, etc.)

The way this will work is as follows:
For example: All characters are in a room. I will describe what is in the room.
So let's say there is a closet in the room and one character wishes to open it.
THIS CHOICE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE REVOKED
Before posting about opening the door, the nation controlling that character must telegram me asking what is in the closet. After I tell them what is in the closet (be it horrible or incredible) they must post about their actions, including what information I gave them.
If I were to say there was a living skeleton in the closet, that character could post about their fight with it, even passing on the fight to the next poster. I cannot dictate HOW you fight the skeleton, I can only inform you that there was indeed a skeleton in he closet. It is up to the character's to privately and publicly (by posting) discuss where they should go and what they should do. Also, now and then I will post about some characters having hallucinations where they see themselves as "alone" and I will attempt to break their character's fragile mind. If the character successfully rejects my attempts, they will break free of the hallucination, although they may be a bit shaky from there on out.

BOSS FIGHTS:
Now and then the characters will encounter a unique and very powerful opponent which will be considered a "boss" of sorts.
These bosses will require multiple stages to be passed before they can be slain.
For example:
(I post) The boss appears and attacks.
Character One tries (and/or) fails to dodge, then counterattacks
(I post) The boss is wounded and tries to escape.
Character Two tries to attack the boss with, say, a pistol, and wounds the boss further, thus preventing its escape (though now and then the boss will escape and be encountered again later)
(I post) The boss stop retreating and attacks again.
Character Three deals the killing blow to the boss.

Of course, the players do NOT have to post in a predetermined order during boss fights. They may privately discuss how to go about fighting the boss.

NAME: Sergey Golovkovich Katukov
APPEARANCE: 47 years old, blue eyes and brown hair. 5'11", long scar on his neck from military service. Perpetual stubble on chin. Relatively muscular, tends to have a cigarette hanging from his lips.
PROFESSION(S) HELD: Night security guard, volunteer firefighter
RELIGION: Russian Orthodox
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: Trained in the use of firearms, knife and bayonet combat from military service. Proficient with nightstick and Mag-Lite flashlight bludgeon from 18 years as a night watchman and 3 years as a policeman in a rough town. Learned booby traps from "Commie Nick" in Xia Sun Nam.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: Military survival and tactical training, decent carpentry and automotive repair skills. Learned to pick locks, hotwire cars as a teenager. Heavy smoker, so he doesn't have the best lungs. Skilled harmonica player, but cannot play for long intervals.
GEAR: Night watchman's uniform, nightstick, large Mag-Lite flashlight with less-than-fresh batteries, Colt Python revolver with only the six in the chamber. Car keys, pack of cards, Zippo lighter and a pack of cigarettes. Harmonica.
PSYCH PROFILE: Lost his fear of the night and darkness over the years, thinks of it as "his time". May have repressed memories from the Xia Sun Nam War (hell of a war, that was), can become violent in stressful situations. Patriotic. Can follow orders, but is prone to doubting the leadership skills of others when they make mistakes. Nicotine withdrawal may come into play later on. Though he is a volunteer firefighter, he is absolutely terrified of fire due to a childhood tragedy and watching Communist guerillas covered in napalm as a teenager. Also not the best swimmer, doesn't like being on boats or having to ford/swim across rivers. Very attached to and protective of little sister, even though she is now 42 herself.
BACKGROUND: Born in the rough town of Ekatsingrad to modest factory workers, Sergey Katukov never had much. While his sister Catherine excelled in school, he was more of a criminal. His mother was religious, and she feared for her son's soul, while his father was a drunk, and feared for his own job. When he lost it, he joined the military and was promptly killed-in-action in the Hungramian War. He found himself as the man of the house, and tried to take care of his family through legal means, which led to him having a minimum-wage job in construction. When that didn't work, he turned to what he knew best- the criminal underworld.
He was surrounded by the thriving illicit alcohol trade found in Western Lolzieristan, and found himself involved in making moonshine from the age of fourteen. One incident led to a brush fire where he was sleeping, and he barely escaped the resulting firestorm with his life; this scarred him for life.
When Lolzieristan became embroiled in the Xia Sun Nam War in '81, Katukov was drafted into the Army and shipped out to the tropical hell before he was 19. He saw lots of things there that aged him, including napalm strikes, booby traps, and heartless slaughter. When he returned, he swore to "serve and protect" the people, and immediately became a police officer in Ekatsingrad. He was dismissed from the force, however, when he opened fire on a group of nonviolent protestors. Unable to get another job in the military or law enforcement, Katukov rode the rails for a short time, but soon became a night security guard for various warehouses, railroads, and wharfs off and on for the next few decades.

NAME: Kane Unix Press

APPEARANCE: 31, 6'2, long black hair, brown eyes, clean shaven.

PROFESSION(S) HELD: TF25 member, although before that, he was an insurance agent...

RELIGION: Athiest. Plain and true.

WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: Good at range. A deadly shot at a distance, and a guaranteed shooter at closer ranges. At close combat he is near useless, but can deceive targets into stopping.

SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: Sneaky, sly, he could lie about the moon exploding and convince you it actually happened. Very agile, and knows a fair bit of parcour. Despite these advantages, Kane knows little in unarmed combat. Remove all weaponry, and he becomes ill-stomached and frightened.

GEAR: Machete, M1911, civilian Bulletproof vest, flashlight, backpack and a medic's kit.

PSYCH PROFILE: A complete ass who is only out there for his own gain. Your typical CDSPian. A little less than sane on the sociopathic side. Although, he has a bad case of OCD, and when things don't go according to plan, and depending on the stakes, he may have a mental breakdown.

BACKGROUND: As a young boy, Kane was introduced to the 'game' of decit and untruth. He was only five when he began to practice lying by doing it all the time. If Kane failed a test, he would say he passed. If Kayne passed a test, he said he failed. Then, he practiced the truth. But only when he saw necessary. This way, he would instinctively mislead everyone unless he sought otherwise.

His family did care for him, although Kane thought the prefered his younger sister. He would avoid them as often as possible. Living in seclusion at places like the forest behind his house, or the skate park, he honed his agility and speed. Not only that, but at 14, Kane convinced his parents to enroll him in a gun safety class over the summer, where he learned how to use firearms properly.

At the age of sixteen, Kane got his first job as a receptionist in an insurance building. By gradually rising the ranks by mistruth, Kane developed an almost unprecedented skill for convincing people to do things for him. Although, it turns out that the Government was watching, and saw through everything. They recruited Kane into the army then taught him how to lie even easier. Figures.

When the TF25 was formed, Kane was the sixty-third draft. He served as an 'in the middle of the enemy line' agent, and during the invasion of the sovietyeto, slaughtered a few hundred soviets before their commanders received wind of a suspicious figure encroaching on their position. Kane recently went missing on a government endeavor, and his last known location was an arranged meeting with unknown government honchos...

WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: Mele, but nothing more than fight club with some friends
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: He knows how to keep his head cool and the others around him. He can stay relaxed in stressful situations
GEAR: Backpack, cellphone, notebook with pen, pocket bible, batteries, 3 energy bars.
PSYCH PROFILE: Stable,trustworthy, someone you would want to talk to in a bad situation.
BACKGROUND: (please be as detailed as possible. Include things such as childhood, family history, etc.)
Born in Banrich, Octovia to an upper middle class pyscoligist. He was an only child and the kid on the block who always got everything. His parents never spent money on themselves, so they spent most of their extra money on him. His parents were both Christian and always made him go to church. During his teen years he became more indipendant from his parents and spent most of his time out of the house. He never did anything terribly bad, so his parents didn't mind. He could be known to be gone for days without his parents seeing him. He liked to travel and searched through the most culturally parts of Octovia. One day, he was walking down the street and he passed one of the many Parlimentary Offices. As he was passing by and eventually stopped to eat his lunch outside the building, 12 men walked out of a van and into the building. Minutes later gunshots rang out and screams could be heard. Before he had any time to respond, an explosion went off in the building followed by 12 more in the minutes to come. He was blown across the street and landed in a park, sorrounded by debris and bodies. When the paramedics got there, he suffered from 3rd degree burns and a few broken bones. He spent two weeks in the hospital before he was released home. After that, he believed it was god who saved him from death that day. He never argued about going to church again. His life soon went back to normal, he enrolled in Banrich university and studied Pyschology and History. He was in some of the greatest years of his life.

NAME: Brendan Franko
APPEARANCE: 26, Caucasian, Blonde (short hair), Wide shoulders, 5'9"
PROFESSION(S) HELD: He was a psychatrist, actually. In earlier years, he worked as a construction worker, and he practices German swordsmanship to cool down after a long day.
RELIGION: He's a devout Catholic.
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: As I said, he practices German Swordsmanship.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: He's very smart, and analytical. Also, he is very strong, due to his practice, and skilled with his sword.
GEAR: He has a German longsword, and is equipped with medieval plate armor.
PSYCH PROFILE: He is stable, but his weakness lies in being assaulted verbally with other's ideas of his failures.
BACKGROUND: Born in 1986, Franko was always interested in other people. His early childhood consisted of private education, up until 5th grade, when his father died. His mother, traumatized, was horrid to him. This only motivated him more, and as he came to high school, he took classes to become a psychatrist. He was mildly popular, and had a few girlfriends, though no one stuck with him. In 2005, he became a psychatrist, and has been in his profession for 7 years.

NAME: Ian Nutenmeyer
APPEARANCE: Ian stands at an unimposing 5’3”, a trait he managed to nab from his father who stands at least two inches shorter than him, unfortunately for Ian, that wasn’t the only thing he managed to inherit. Accompanying a mop of shoulder length stringy brown hair, and common brown eyes, is a significant amount of weight. Having weighed in at some 314 pounds, Ian has heard just about everything there is to hear pertaining to being ‘fat’. His typical dress is mainly loose and what he hopes to be concealing, pertaining of long sleeve shirts, jackets and cargo pants. He is aged 23.
PROFESSION(S) HELD: Ian never really did much in the way of self progress, beyond what he managed in his online MMORPG’s. He has served roles in grocery stores, retail outlets, done some manual labour (lawn mowing, minor construction) but obviously didn’t stick with it. Had a stint as a cook in two different restaurants, and is now currently an intern for TregH Inc. a small computer programming and manufacturing company.
RELIGION: He believes there is a God, but doesn’t really have a strong interest in following what He says.
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: At his father’s insistence he learned how to shoot a pistol, for self-defense if anything else, which he keeps in an ankle holster. He is not very good, and proved so at his concealed carry license test, but did well enough that they gave him his license.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: Nothing. Ian is an overweight young man with very little promise.
GEAR: A 9mm 8 shot revolver, a candy bar, two pencils and a pen, a digital wristwatch and an ounce of weed.
PSYCH PROFILE: Ian tends to be rather reasonable and attempts to be logical in most situations. He is a trusting quiet fellow, always eager to help, eager to please. He is easily backed down and shut up with a less than harsh word or more, he does not take to criticism well, and if pushed to an extreme can get very angry. He is passionate about things he loves, which include porn, games and food. Especially women since he’s never ‘had’ one.
BACKGROUND: Ian was born into a typical household to Aaron Nutenmeyer and Adria Nutenmeyer, parents one would normally find on TV. As his creators were unremarkable, as was he, Ian spent a proper year in each grade, slowly gaining weight as he went. As was expected, he managed to garner an amount of torment towards his weight, landing classic namesakes like ‘Glutenmeyer’. (A personal favourite of mine.)
All throughout school Ian proved to show no promise in anything except for his fascination with online games. They became his obsession, his absolute life, living as someone he was not. It was glorious, and he immersed. Money began to run out and Ian jumped from job to job as he scrambled to find money to support himself. By 20, it was clear he was never going to college, instead he moved out and rented himself an apartment in the inner city, complete, of course, with World Wide Web. His greatest fantasy was to be spirited away to another world, where he would embark upon a great adventure (along with a better body) hopefully entailing great rewards. Unfortunately, reality, it seemed, would never let go of him, and day in and day out Ian lived his monotonous life, filled with waking, eating, working and playing….but not forever it seemed.

NAME: Kevin Frost
APPEARANCE: 20-year-old Caucasian male with slicked back black hair and dark eyes. Tall and svelte. Dressed in a black suit with a black tie, white dress shirt, polished black dress shoes, black socks, and black fingerless gloves.
PROFESSION(S) HELD: Student (3-18), storehand (10-16), part-time armory worker (16-18), Guardian Trooper (18-20), Agent Secundus for the Department of Human Prosperity (20-present).
RELIGION: Vulpesian Animism.
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION: Handguns and, as a last resort, hand-to-hand.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: Incredibly fast, but frail. He can dodge hard hits, but he can’t hit hard.
GEAR: Beretta 92FS Elite 9mm pistol (hidden inside of coat), two clips (14 bullets), cell phone, silver/black wristwatch
PSYCH PROFILE: Introverted, distrusting of strangers, loyal, shy, sarcastic, quiet.
BACKGROUND: Born on September 19, 1991 to the streets of Fyrto, Frost had a very eventful upbringing. When the Kauvaran War of Unification ended in 1987, many believed peace had come to Kauvara. This was largely true. But not in Fyrto. During the 1990s and 2000s, the Fyrtan Rebellions were in full-swing. Kauvaran Guardian Regiments, usually reserved to fighting the beasts at the gates and barriers around the city, instead were busy attempting to subdue the Fyrtan Freedom Front. Kevin’s father, Lucius, was a former soldier in the Vulpesian Grand Army, one of the men who subjugated the Fyrtans. Due to this, the Frost Family was often targeted by ultranationalist Fyrtans. Kevin, who was only a boy at the time, was deeply affected by this. Due to his inability to make friends, he became highly-introverted, only really going out of the house for school, and developing an intense distrust and wariness around strangers.

However, he also had one other pastime. Fyrto was a mostly ruined city, as the Kauvaran government was too busy trying to stop the rebels than rebuild. Starting at age seven, Kevin enjoyed the solitude that the forbidden ruined sections brought, often using the destroyed buildings as his playgrounds. Over the years, he developed a keen sense of agility, being able to move quickly and maneuver his body in highly-skilled ways. He could even avoid the Kauvaran and Fyrtan patrols that went through them, developing an incredible talent for stealth. But reality was always there to remind him of his life.

Kevin worked varying jobs, usually ones that kept him away from people, starting with helping in his father’s store when he was 10. When he turned 16, his father urged him to begin preparing for a military career. Fyrto was in trouble, and he wanted Kevin to carry on the Frost legacy of bringing order to Kauvara. However, Kevin abhorred the idea, and managed to get himself a simple part-time job in the local Guardian Regiment Armory, working in the back to repair the simple handguns of the Guardian Troopers. Due to his work with pistols over the course of two years, Kevin soon learned how to use pistols proficiently, becoming a sort of marksman with them.

By 2008, this gained the attention of his superior, and he asked Kevin to show him what he could do. Impressed, the officer recommended Kevin be placed into the Guardian Regiments full-time. Although Kevin was completely against the idea, as he hated the idea of being around so many people. However, after receiving pressure from his father, he accepted, beginning a career as a Guardian Trooper in the Fyrtan Guardian Regiment.

Graduating from basic training a few months later as a private, Kevin did everything he could to avoid conflict. But this was precisely what made him so effective as a soldier. His skills with marksmanship, agility, and stealth made him into an effective information retriever. Noticing these skills, his commanders made him into a scout. Over the next year, Kevin would go into enemy territory, discover their positions and plans, and then report back. By his second year, he was even assassinating key figures of the Fyrtan rebel movement. This was when he caught the eyes of the IKSF. They monitored him for a year, but were hesitant to recruit him. Kevin was highly-attached to his family, and that would pose a problem.

However, in 2010, when Kevin was 20, everything changed. The Fyrtan rebels attacked his home neighborhood, killing his parents. This devastated Kevin. His father was the strong leader for most of his life, and his mother his safe refuge. He had nothing. He quit his work as a Guardian Trooper, disappearing into the ruins he had called home all his life, becoming a fugitive wanted for desertion, as well as a killer wanted for revenge.

For months, the IKSF tried to track him down, finally discovering him living as a normal citizen right under the noses of the Fyrtan rebels and Kauvaran authorities. When they first approached him, he was afraid they were there to arrest him for desertion. Instead, they told him that he was a prime candidate for the IKSF: no family, no friends, and a past that he had completely severed himself from. Seeing a chance to finally be somewhere where he would not be around many people, Kevin accepted, entering the training facility at <REDACTED>, where his skills were honed even further.

In January 2011, Kevin was made a full agent in the IKSF, and his identity was erased. It was as if he never existed. To most agents, this was a very jarring event. To Kevin, it was a happy transition into the next phase of his life. The agents at the IKSF were some of the only people he actually liked being around, and they soon realized that the meek, shy person that they brought in actually had a dry, sarcastic wit about him. He fit right in with the other agents. For the first time in his life, Kevin fit in. For the first time in his life, Kevin was happy.
